Setting high standards

Standards
How high do you set your standards?

When we take a look at ourselves we often allow ourselves to be satisfied with a normal standard. However if we want to achieve great things and have great people around us we need to set high expectations for ourselves.

Allow yourself to aim high and do the things that are needed to achieve them. So after achieving them you can take the time to pat yourself on the back. For example we can all try and go for a degree, but why should you settle with a basic degree that you don’t like? If there is something that grabs your interests, despite how hard it may look, give it your best try. Who knows you may find the job of your lifee because you didn’t give in to the second best degree.

The challenge itself is to exceed certain high standards you’ve set for yourself. – Dimple Kapadia

It’s the art to set the standards for yourself really high, nearly impossible, but not too high so that you give up because it’s out of your reach. Another good method to hold yourself accountable is by setting really high standards, but still achievable ones. Then once you managed to complete them to go over your boundaries and expand the standard even further. For example you can challenge yourself to achieve a certain difficult degree. While attacking it head on you can attempt to increase the work you put into it and aim for better results.

Another method you can apply to exceed your standards is to not just go for that certain goal, but gradually add in new achievements to obtain. For example you can aim to get your driving license in a short time span while continueing studying makes it a high standard. But if you are able to start other goals at the same time it becomes even a much higher standard. This could be trying to improve your health while still maintaining your focus on your current goals.
