Yesterday we talked about removing artificial light before going to bed. We would benefit even more if we decrease our screen time during the day.
Especially young people grew up with the availability of screens all day, and night, long. The availability has is benefits like freedom to obtain information at any time. If we continously look on our screens we also get the negative effects.
Any excuse to get away from the computer screen is welcome. – Stefan Sagmeister
Unfortunately often times we can’t choose to skip computer use. Schools start to implement technologies during the classes. In most universities about 95% students use a laptop every class. Despite the controversy it is highly advisable to give the oldschool method a chance. Use a pen and a paper and see what benefits you will obtain. You will be paying more attention to what is being said. By writing during class you are already actively learning.
If you are working a desk job screen time is not far away. This actually should motivate you to limit your screen time in your spare time. The best example for this is meeting your friends or visiting family members. How often have you sit with people where most, if not all, persons are on their phone? We forget that it is ok to sit with friends silently and enjoy the moment for a few minutes. Next time you are with friends and the conversation is dieing out, just remain comfortable without taking your phone out.
One last tip. If you are inclined to still be using your laptop here and there out of boredom. Try to find some productive activities to do on your laptop. Follow some online classes, learn a new language or read a book online.
