A great step to mental health is to be able to change the situation that you are in, no matter the circumstances. Becoming happy is not supposed to be achieved by a quick, easy fix.

The road to hapiness starts with being happy with the small things in life. You don’t have to travel to Costa Rica to enjoy yourself. Being together with family and friends goes a far way towards a happy life. So does living with nature. Consume less goods that have their toll on nature. Contrary to popular believe being happy can even be obtained through being frugal. This means you can even become happy without spending too much money on consumer goods.

When you are in a good financial situation it’s more optimal to become happy. However even in that situation there lies a point in thinking about reducing your expenses. Working on a high paying, high end stressfull job can be very fulfilling in the beginning. But in due time high expenses can keep you in this stressfull situation.

Life doesn’t have to be monotonous. You don’t have to feel obliged to maintain your intensive life for the people around you. True hapiness can only be achieved if you love your work and your life after it. Take a step back from your current life and see what could make your life for the better. No matter what the consequences, seek what makes you happy.
