Build a strong character by doing what is difficult and important

How strong can your character become?

It’s of no importance how strong your character is currently, rather what it will be in a couple of years. The strength doesn’t lie in being a succes now but the result in a couple of years.

If you are born in a prosperous country, or in a country that doesn’t too bad in comparison to other countries, you have a lot of possibilities. If we are solely focussed on fun and leisure we will never become strong physically and mentally. Take one look on social media and you will feel less than others, they are drving the newest car, bought the new phone, go on expensive vacations and so on. A comparison shouldn’t be made, because you only need to look at yourself, but if you are comparing make sure you are comparing the same situation. This comparison is completely wrong. You are comparing someone else’s situation to your current state. While to make the comparison true you should compare it to your situation in 3 to 5 years. Yes, they may be the same age as you right now, but they may been building themselves for a couple of years now.

Character is the result of two things: mental attitude and the way we spend our time. – Elbert Hubbard

You can become just as succesfull as anyone you look up to right now. Granted you may not end up at the level of Elon Musk or Warren Buffett in 5 years. But who cares to end up at that level? They have their own set of challenges you wouldn’t want to end up at. For example they can’t go out without being recognised and halted by a lot of people. While if you become succesful and don’t go bragging about it you will be seen as just another person while you can enjoy all the freedom you could ever want. Building your character isn’t done in one day, rather focus on your goals and continue to improve yourself at every moment of the day. Don’t focus on watching television, going on constant vacations, spending all your money, going to bed late and wake up late. Instead of all this put effort in to do the hard things that others aren’t willing to do.

Take the difficult steps that everyone avoids and you will see what benefits it will bring in the long run. Don’t expect to be succesful in 6 months, rather continue to enjoy what you are doing while improving your skills. In 5 years no one will look back at all the work you put in and the countless hours of persistence and effort. Rather you will have become the type of person you are looking up to right now. Despite how hard it is don’t give up and keep improving yourself. Spend your time on difficult actions and on the things that no one is willing to do, challenge yourself. Your character isn’t build by doing nothing, neither is it just by build by becoming older. You have to perform in order to improve your character. Your character has to be crafted, created, not just received.
