We are all taught to strive to be the best we can be. If you achieve a result of 70% most people will be fine with it, but they are trying to push us to reach at least 80 and if possible 90%. But is it advisable to aim for this?
While aspiring to be perfect is commendable, it’s not practicle. If you are expecting to hit a perfect score you will very often be dissapointed. Striving for a good score and not being dissapointed if you don’t achieve it is extremely difficult. So therefore it might be better to not try to hit the perfect streak. If you know you don’t have to achieve the greatest result you will be happy and satisfied with a slightly lower score. This means that you get some motivation to continue on the path and maybe next time you will score better. However if you focus so much on the result you obtain you may demotivate yourself.
In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful. – Alice Walker
Despite your performance might not have been the best one it still remains to be a performance. Regardless of the outcome you can be proud you participated and took a first step towards success. Even if you, and the others, consider your performance as not enough you took a step towards improving yourself. The first steps you take towards any goal is difficult and could feel like a failure. However it’s not a failure unless you are not learning something from it and you are giving up instead of getting more motivated to do better next time.
Life often requires us to give our all and to achieve a great results with it. But nothing worth your while was created in just one attempt. Continue to sharpen your skills and next attempts will improve the result. An example is writing a thesis. It’s very difficult to do, so instead of showing what you have written so far and let your draft being corrected you would hold off showing it untill it’s completely done. But if you are able to have it corrected earlier there is less work to rewrite and possibly starting over. While performing things perfectly may seem interesting you are holding yourself back because you are afraid of failing. The only failing exists if you quit because you are afraid.
