Go the extra mile to grab opportunities

master of patience
Master patience to get successfull

All good things in life can only be achieved  by working hard. Examples are: finishing your studies, building your career or building a company. They can all be done by anyone, you just have to work hard and be patient enough. Starting a career path and expecting to become the CEO of the company in 5 years is unrealistic and impossible to obtain. Not achieving the goal in the set time demotivates you and will get you nowhere.

If we look at succesfull people we may think that they are the lucky ones who didn’t have to work for it and were just handed out an opportunity. The thing we often forget it that opportunities don’t just come out and create possibilities for future success. They have worked hard and waited years for an opportunity to arise to grab it with both hands, no matter how difficult the challenges may be.

Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while you wait. – Samuel Johnson

To achieve great things you shouldn’t confuse patience with just waiting for a miracle to happen. You have to prepare in advance so you have the neccessary abilities to grab an opportunity when it arises. Don’t agree with a stagnation of your life and of your abilities. Focus on building desirable skills while being patient. Continue to build on your current strengths, like expanding on your knowledge of the industry you work in. This can either be practical or theoretical knowledge preferable also in a different language.

Most people settle for a mediocre live, the life they see family and friends have. There is nothing wrong with it, but to exceed all expectations you have to want to go that extra mile. People tend to get knowledge and expertise in a certain area and then they are satisfied if they can keep a status-quo from now on. As long as they get paid they can continue to pay of their mortgage and do the same every year. But what if you spend just 30 minutes a day extra compared to your peers? With just that extra bit you are building an advantage over the people around you.

These 30 minutes can be spend on various activities. Allowing yourself to be creative in your free time is a great choice. Learn a music instrument and see how your creativity gets a boost. It might not help you out right away, but this is where patience comes into play. Everything that is worthwile requires you to sit out the time it takes for it to blossom.
