When to ignore people warning you not to invest

Investing
Invest the way you like

If you ask family about investing they may look at you like you are swearing in the church. Investing isn’t well established into our society. Some people see it as gambling, others see it as a way to take unnecessary risk.

Unfortunately everyone keeping you away from investing, from taking risks have more often than not never invested themselves. It’s true there are people who lost everything due to investing, lost their savings, their hard eard money and have to live with a lot less these days. As with everything that is worth it, it doesn’t come easy. If it would be easy everyone would do it, and no one would have something against investing.

Succesfull investing is about managing risk, not avoiding it. – Benjamin Graham

People rarely believe you if you are able to talk positively about investing. The only stories they heard is about the people who have lost a lot. If you start doubting yourself and stop investing you will never get the potential rewards of investing. You can’t blame family and friends trying to warn you from losing it all. They only want the best for you. Aslong as you are aware of the risks and take them into consideration there is no reason to avoid investing. It never hurts to set a bit of money aside to start investing. Any money that you put into investing should be money you are willing to lose.

If you want to invest and want to listen to the people care for you, there is a way to combine both. Be open to the tips they give you. Things like having an emergency money pouch, diversifying your portfolio, not putting all your money in investments are all good tips to take to heart. At the same time don’t let yourself get discouraged to invest a small amount every month. Instead of using some of your money to useless activities spend it on some investments instead.
