Decrease your spending instead of increasing your income

Decrease spending
Lower your spending

In the perfect world you would have enough money so you and your family don’t have to worry later in life. Unfortunately this luxury isn’t given to everyone. However, if you pay attention you are able to create more freedom for yourself.

When we take a look at our own spending we soon come to the conclusion that we aren’t earning enough money and we blame our boss that we haven’t received a raise in many years. It’s true an increase in your income can help heaps in your financial plan, but isn’t the only way to create some space for yourself. Instead of pointing to others, consider your choices and see how you can change them.

We want to show everyone how well we are doing. We want to move out of our parents home as soon as possible, buy our own car, buy the latest new gadget. This may all be fun to do and may impress your family and friends for one minute, but how much are you hurting yourself? If you are living together with your parents do they force you to leave the house by the age of 21? Or are you allowed to stay a year longer that you don’t have to start paying expensive rent?

There’s something about a holiday that isn’t all about how much money you spend. – Hilarie Burton

A time in our life where we tend to spend a lot of money on is on our holidays. Taking a plane and flying to spain to enjoy the sun or going snowboarding may all be fun. But what is the true cost of going on an expensive holiday. The money itself isn’t the problem. But how much are you pinching your life so you can go on that well earned (expensive) trip for a week or two? You may be completely relaxed while there, but how about the financial burden that you may encounter the rest of the year?

Make sure to always have some set aside for if something may happen. This is worth way more than that luxury week away. What is the benefit of going on that well-earned vacation if you have a hard time collecting the money for the trip? Everyone should enjoy themselves and go on trips to relax. But depending on your budget you can adjust your expenses.
