Don’t allow yourself being misguided

Books contain a lot of information

Getting to know more information is never a bad thing. But no matter where the information comes from be sure to check whether or not the information is correct.

Being informed is so great and important. The more you read about a subject the more you will learn from it and the easier the subject will become. This can be seen in anything you put your mind to. For example if you read in a different language or focussing on a certain subject for your class. The more you read about it the more unstandable and even obvious it becomes.

Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint. – Mark Twain

There aren’t many disadvantages of reading books. One of the smaller problems is that if you want to read a lot you might end up sacrificing a bit of your sleep. Since you want to finish the chapter or end the book you could be decreasing the amount of sleep you get every night. Another small disadvantage that rarely is being spoken about is the potential high costs. If you are buying all the books you want to read it will be costing a hefty amount. Alternatives are going to a library, borrowing or swapping books with friends, family or even strangers.

With any piece of information you have to be carefull to accept it without any further thought. When you are being teached something by a teacher or from a textbook you have to think critically. Even the smallest person out there can make a mistake, so you should never take anything for granted without a second thought. The same things goes for reading books, they are written by someone who can also make mistakes.

Read our next article to get to learn more about critical thinking and why it is crucial. For the time being keep your mind active at all times.
