The topic of this article is a slightly controversial one. Not because we doubt it will help, but because we don’t want it to be true. It is so tempting to finish that interesting movie or reply to your friend’s text. This article will explain how it could be helpfull for everyone to decrease the artificial lights before going to bed.
In the first place it wouldn’t hurt to be using our phones, laptop and TV less often. Even during the daytime it feels so relaxing if you are able to forget about your phone alltogether. For us, the new generation it is very rare to have a moment without electronics. That means that we should look forward to those moments and create more of them.
There is a time for many words, and there is also a time for sleep. – Homer
Try creating a light free moment 15 mins before going to bed. The light of lamps are allowed. Don’t just remove your phone, laptop and TV for 15 mins sitting around waiting for bed. Find something that you never feel you have time for but always wanted to start/restart doing. Pick up that instrument you used to play when you were younger. Start reading some books or even go and get a talk with your friends. Mind your phone use though.
When you found something to replace the last minutes before going to bed, slowly expand that moment. At the start it will be hard, but slowly you will start to crave that moment in the day that you relax without your phone nearby. If you have to set your phone alarm, do this before starting your relax time.
Tomorrow’s article will give you even more incentive to remove your phone from the centre of your attention. It is a difficult task to achieve, but that is why we should give it a go.
