If your facing adversity look for solutions rather than excuses

Don’t think about excuses but solutions

Facing difficult situation will bring the worse of people. Rather than looking for solution we tend to look for reason why we can’t succeed.

When we want to change our life or a component of our life we take a look at the difficult situation we are in. For example if you have been smoking for years and have tried quitting for the longest time. Instead of finding a way to finally quit we look for reasons why we shouldn’t quit or we search for excuses why this isn’t the mloment to turn our life around. Nothing, not even peers agreeing with you, is a good enough excuse to not quit your unhealthy habit regardless of what that habit is. Change your thinking: instead of looking for excuses look for solutions on how to handle your bad habits or addictions.

Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses. – George Washington Carver

Why didn’t you take that language class? Why haven’t you started that business that you are thinking about? Why haven’t you improved your health? There are plenty of excuses but there are only a handfull of solutions to them. You don’t have to be creative in order to start with what you wanted to for the longest time. The simple actions are often the best ones. Do you have to learn everything about having a business before you start one? Not at all. You can just start your business on the side while you still earn money at your fulltime job. You aren’t limiting yourself by doing it, you are allowing yourself to learn from your first opportunity. Will it succeed? Probably not, but who cares?

The greatest business owners in the world started their first (unsuccessful) at some point. It’s only their third or seventeen business that actually took off. There is no harm in trying if you continue to have something that keeps you alive. Your first option is to have a fulltime (or parttime) job. Some business owners would tell you to never continue your job when focussing on your own business. They say to build an emergency fund of 6 to 12 months and then take a leap of faith. Yes, it will feel more urgent and crucial that you land your business because you don’t really have something else. If you are willing to take this risk and you have a backup plan you could consider this. They say that putting yourself with your back against the wall will motivate you to make it succeed. This will certainly work for some people.
