Learn from your friends

Friends are important as a support network, but they will also influence how you look at life and the everyday struggles. If your friends have overcome difficulties in life you have an example how it could be done. If on the other hand they avoid problems and run away from them it will also impact your decisions. Starting a challenging studies or a job that requires more from you is hard. But if you know you can make it if you push through then you are more likely to do so.

Choosing what to study depending on the decision of your friend(s) is the worst thing to do. Don’t blindly follow them thinking that they will show you the way. Decide on your own what path you want to walk on and find people who join you on the path to improvement. You might stay in contact with your best friends at school or your paths can move away from each other. When it does you can find like-minded people at a company you start to work for or meeting someone when going out.

We’re growing and learning together, and it is important for us to stay true to the family we are. – Kevin Jonas

We can grow on our own, but it becomes increasingly more difficult without people around who are looking to do the same. Learning together means you learn faster and get to study different ways and learn things you would have never found out on your own. Maintain who you are and grow together to new hights. Your friends have grown up in a different family and in a different environment. The benefit of this is that they have learned different things and at different times in their life. This means that what is obvious for you is the opposite for your friend. You can teach your friend and the other way around.

Your priority may have been language, while your friend is great at math. You speak English, your friend speaks Spanish. While you might not have the tendency to study the same language, you know you can contact them whenever needed. The extra language doesn’t seem to have any benefit at the moment. But learning to speak another language will at some point benefit you. Look at the subjects that your friends are not so great in, help them out and see the favour returned later on.
