When you are so passioned that you call it an obsession it means you are able to put your time in it, instead of meaningless scrolling through your social media features. Depending on your passion it’s even acceptable to prioritize it over other activities. If your passion is working out it’s normal that sometimes you choose to workout instead of going out with friends everyday. Plan your rest days so that you can go out with friends a couple days per week, but also allow yourself to focus on your passion.

After creating a positive obsession having internal motivation is extremely easy. You like the activity so much that you love spending your time on it. This is a very welcome change versus when you first start finding it difficult to enjoy it. When you are willing to put the hours into your passion you will continiously keep on improving. A great example for this is playing an instrument. Spending your time will help you become better at it.
If your passion turns into an extremely obsessive pastime than you might have to consider dialing it down a notch. Having an obsession makes it difficult to take a step back. But sometimes it’s better to allow yourself to look at the bigger picture. On my personal road to a healthy life, I created a obsession about eating healthy and working out often. However when you feel your body can’t follow anymore you have to take the hard decision to let your body recover. This doesn’t mean you have to let yourself go completely, just take it easier for some time.
Look at your passion and think if you want to turn it in an obsession. Some people will call you crazy, some will call you very goal driven. Especially on positive passions you are likely to be praised for it.
