Take some time to enjoy

Eeveryone has their own goals to accomplish and activities to participate in. Kowing what you want to achieve is great and you can set small stepping stones to reach it.  However to prevent yourself from getting demotivated take a step back once in a while. Reevaluate your goal, the steps you set for yourself and look at your progress.

There is no shame in refraining your goal. Deciding that you no longer want to obtain it, does not mean that you got demotivated. It rather shows that you no longer place importance on your previous goal. Nevertheless if you want to give up on a goal while still wanting to achieve it, then something is wrong with your motivation. You can still be motivated to strive for the goal but you can’t put effort into taking the necessary steps anymore.

A great way to remedy “giving up” on your goal is by not only focussing on your goal. Use some of your time to work towards the end result, but also do other things in between. Mainly pass your time by doing usefull things that you like to do.

For example if you are at university going for a diploma, consider movement as your motivation as your break from studying. Go for a morning run before class or do it when you return from class. Taking care of your health is just as important as reaching your goal, if not more. If you have reached your goal but became unhealthy you will have trouble getting back into shape and reaching your next goals. If you have maintained your health you can work towards your new goal.

The greatest goal to set is something that you can achieve by doing something that you love. For example if you like to play music setting a specific goal for playing a song will be an enjoyable goal. At the same time it will easier to obtain if you like the spending time towards reaching it.
