Taking risks or staying safe?

When we would believe everything what teachers and parents would tell us we would never take any risks. Go for a standard education and focus on a safe and stable job opportunity. Having stability is great, but it also doesn’t challenge yourself to strive for becoming better.

What would you choose: keeping your current job at a average wage or going for a more difficult job opportunity with higher pay? Security has it’s own price. When you have gone through a lot and have your family depending on you it might be a better idea to play it safe and to garantee an income, even if it’s lower than you could achieve.

If you are still young, don’t have a mortgage, still living with your parents and don’t have an expensive car, why not take a leap of faith into the open world? Agreed, you should never just quit a job hoping for something better while sitting at home. Stay active and search after your working hours for a good opportunity. May it be creating a company or moving to a different opportunity.

Some people revel in taking risks, and some go through life taking no risks at all. – Nicolas Winton

Eeveryone is different. Some prefer freedom to do what they want, others like very strictly managed companies giving them job safety. Neither side of the spectrum is good or bad, it just depends on what you prefer.

Generally speaking the bigger the risk you take, the bigger possible yield. Heading onto a new opportunity can help you grow faster or it can hinder your progress. Without taking the risk, you will never know what you have missed. For example if you really like singing will you proceed to strive to make it your job or would you rather work a 9 to 5?

If you happen to make it in the music industry you will enjoy doing what you love while earning your income. Didn’t make it? You at least went after your dream and can never regret not giving it a chance. Obviously it is not a good idea to solely strive for taking the biggest risks possible without any chance of success. Look at the risk, the potential reward and search for the balance between the two.
