When we meet new people we are so focussed on getting to know them that we forget we can learn from them. Don’t expect yourself to be perfect and see what you can learn from others.
In life there are plenty of people around us that we can learn from .Sometimes we tend to think that we have learned enough and we nog longer need to improve. However from the moment we accept this we will quickly lose the control we have. Instead of thinking you are perfect look for any opportunity of growth. At work we often focus around the persons that know more than us, this is great, you will learn a lot from them. However if someone start at your workplace for the first day they have had other experiences before. Even someone just coming from school has some important things for you to learn from them. If you are proud but never satisfied with you level of knowledge you will continue to improve far past what you ever expected.
A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer. – Bruce Lee
As you can understand from the quote: you determine how much you learn from a situation. The smartest person that refuses to listen, that doesn’t want to learn will not improve and will fall behind very quickly. Intelligence will not continu to outperform people that put effort and hard work towards improvement. Even in a situation where it seems impossible to learn something can be used to improve yourself. An example is having a bad work environment teaches how you can handle difficult situations. Having a very unfair, difficult boss shows you how you should never be, if you ever start a company you will know what to avoid when you start hiring.
At the present moment where you might wonder whether or not there is something to learn you may not find something directly. However if you think thoroughly and even reflect back on the day you can find something that can help you forward. For example you may work somewhere as back office employee, but today no one was available for welcome the clients. Instead of keeping you strictly to your job description you could go and help them if your work environment allows it. If you want to improve there is always a possibility. Keep your eyes closed to everything around you and your life will stagnate and in due time may even cause you to fall behind.
